Why CSV Import Saves Hours Every Month
If you manage a short-term rental on Airbnb, you might have 15 to 25 payouts per month. Over a year, that is 180 to 300 individual transactions. Entering each one by hand is tedious, error-prone, and completely unnecessary.
Airbnb, VRBO, and Hostaway all let you export your transaction history as a CSV file. RentalReportLab reads those files, identifies the platform format automatically, and maps each column to the correct field. A $2,340 Airbnb payout from January 15 gets imported as income for the correct property with the source set to Airbnb. A $78 host service fee gets captured as a platform expense.
The entire import takes less than 30 seconds for a full year of data. Compare that to hours of manual entry, and the value is obvious.
How It Works
Export Your CSV
Download your transaction history from Airbnb (Earnings page), VRBO (Payment History), or Hostaway (Reports section). Export as CSV for any date range.
Upload and Preview
Drag and drop your file into RentalReportLab. The importer auto-detects the platform, maps columns, and shows a preview table. Review dates, amounts, and categories before saving.
Confirm and Import
Click Import to save all rows. Duplicates are flagged and skipped automatically. Your income and expense logs update instantly, and reports reflect the new data right away.
Supported Platforms and Formats
RentalReportLab supports CSV imports from the most popular rental platforms. Here is what each import handles:
- •Airbnb: payouts, host service fees, cleaning fee payments, adjustments, and resolutions. A typical 12-month export contains 200+ rows covering every transaction type.
- •VRBO: owner payouts, commission fees, and booking-level detail. The importer handles VRBO's multi-line format where a single booking may span several rows.
- •Hostaway: consolidated exports that include income, expenses, and channel source. If you use Hostaway as a channel manager, one CSV captures data from all connected platforms.
- •Generic CSV: any file with date, amount, and description columns. Use this for bank exports, property management software, or custom spreadsheets. The importer shows a column mapping screen so you can assign fields manually.
